Wichita man pleads guilty in summer beating death
A Wichita man has pleaded guilty in the beating death of a man that began with a fight over who owned a dog.
Nelson Glover, 33, and Samuel Sims, 41, stole a dog from a home in the 1400 block of North Kansas in July. The man who had the dog, John Tollivar, had been arguing with his former girlfriend over ownership of the animal.
After the theft, Glover and Sims returned to the home and beat Tollivar to death. Both were charged with second degree murder, but now both have pleaded guilty to reduced charges of involuntary manslaughter. Sims made his guilty plea on Dec. 3.
Glover also pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and criminal trespass. He is to be sentenced Jan. 24 by District Judge Joe Kisner.
