Wichita police say ongoing feud led to fatal stabbing
Wichita police have a 29-year-old man in custody for a fatal weekend stabbing.
The stabbing took place when a fight broke out between two groups of people during a house party in the 2000 block of S. White Oak Drive, near Pawnee and Rock Road.
The victim was 27-year-old Tan Nguyen, who was taken by friends to Via Christi Hospital on Harry. He was later transferred to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis, where he later died.
Lieutenant Scott Heimerman said the suspect had an ongoing feud with Nguyen's brother, but he did not reveal what the feud was about. Heimerman said Nugyen started a fight with some people at the party, and then Nguyen's brother brought out a handgun but did not fire it. The suspect then produced a knife and stabbed Nguyen one time.
Heimerman said officers talked to around 30 people who were at the party, and that led to the arrest of the suspect. Heimerman said no one at the party had any gang involvement.
With a fatal weekend shooting at a home at 827 N. Wabash, Wichita has had 23 homicides this year.
