Early morning fires in Wichita had more bark than bite
Sedgwick County Fire investigators know the cause of a house fire early Tuesday morning in the 7700 block of S. Laura. The small fire started outside in a wall on the back side of the house.
The Red Cross was called to provide a place for the couple to stay the night. Authorities wanted to make sure the home was safe due to electrical issues before returning.
Meanwhile, improper use of a chimney is blamed for a house fire at 1106 N. Poplar early Tuesday morning. A fire investigator believes the family converted chimney pipes into an extended stove. The Red Cross was called to help two adults and five children. Damage was estimated at $25,000 to the home.
