Local man found guilty of recruiting teen prostitutes
A Wichita man was convicted on two counts of attempting to recruit and entice teenage girls to work as prostitutes.
Prosecutors said 26-year-old Brandon Dennis met a 17-year-old girl at a party in the summer of 2011. The two became friends on Facebook. Soon after, Dennis sent the girl messages on Facebook telling her she could make up to $800 a day. The young girl did not take Dennis up on his offer.
Dennis also attempted to recruit a Wichita Police detective, disguised as a 15-year-old girl. The two talked through phone and text messages and arranged to meet at the Drury Inn. Dennis was arrested when he showed up to meet with the girl.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 27. Dennis faces a minimum of 10 years in prison.
