Woman sentenced for Augusta murder
A Butler County judge handed down a sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole for 25 years to Lindsey Giovinazzo, who admitted to helping her boyfriend to kill his grandmother.
Giovinazzo, 20, pleaded guilty to first degree murder in the death of Loyce Cody of Augusta. Cody, 69, was found dead from strangulation or asphyxiation in her home in Dec. 2011.
The 20-year-old boyfriend, Jacob Hoyt, is scheduled for trial in Butler County on Jan. 14.
At the time of the crime, Hoyt and Giovinazzo were charged with murder, theft and arson.
