Wichita man accused in surprise killing
George Vazquez of Wichita must not have known what was coming when he answered his door in the 800 block of North Wabash Saturday evening.
Police believe Vazquez, 23, was shot in the head as he opened the door. Charges were filed Thursday against Hakeem Jackson, who they believe fired the fatal shot. When police arrived, they found Jackson arguing in the front yard with two other men who live in the home.
Jackson, 28, is charged with first-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm. His bond is set at $1 million. A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 27.
