Police say Wichita woman was stabbed to death
Police say a woman found dead in her northeast Wichita home Sunday morning was stabbed to death, and her husband is in custody.
The body of 61-year-old Debra K. Palmer was found shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday in the basement of her home in the 6800 block of East Farmview Lane. She had been stabbed several times.
Wichita Police Lt. Randy Reynolds said at about the same time that officers were checking on the woman, her husband turned himself in at the Sedgwick County jail. He was taken to city hall for questioning and then booked into the jail for first degree murder.
Reynolds said detectives are still gathering information, but it appears Palmer and her husband were in the process of ending their marriage.
Formal charges are expected later this week. This is Wichita's 25th homicide of the year.
