A couple of men got a rude welcome in Planeview this weekend.

Wichita Police said the men were leaving the area after a family visit when a Lincoln Navigator with four or five men inside passed, turned around and followed them. The men flashed gang signs. The men in the other car got onto northbound I-135 at Pawnee.

"They report they haven't done anything back to the vehicle," Sgt. Bart Brunsheen said. "Once they get on I-135, the Lincoln Navigator follows them and continues to do some crazy vehicle maneuvers, like pulling up in front of them, passing, getting in front and slowing down."

A short time later the men being followed heard three gun shots.

"They do notice that on the passenger rear window of the Lincoln Navigator they see a hand come out," said Brunsheen. "The hand is wrapped in a black and white doo rag and they noticed what appears to be a semi-automatic hand gun."

The 30-year-old driver of the vehicle tried to get away from the suspects after he was struck by fragments of glass and lead.

"He reports hearing three guns shots," Brunsheen said. "His front drivers window shatters out, a round comes in and impacts we believe the steering column area. Another round strikes the car and there's no evidence of a third round, but he does report three shots."

The driver exited from I-135 to eastbound Harry, where he was treated for a minor hand injury by an EMS unit nearby that was on an unrelated call. A 33-year-old passenger was not hurt.

The suspects turned around and drove away from the scene. One bullet was recovered from the victim's vehicle. Anyone with information on a butter cream or white colored Lincoln Navigator with unique "ostrich or alligator " customs seats are asked to call police.
