Wichita postmaster asks residents to clear snow from mailboxes
With winter weather ramping up, the United States Postal Service in Wichita is encouraging residents to clear a path to their mailbox.
"Winter storms make mail delivery very challenging for our letter carries," said Wichita Postmaster Evie Tan-Todd. "Clearing a path to your mailbox will go a long way toward keeping our letter carriers safe and ensuring mail delivery each day."
Letter carries are instructed to consider safety and accessibility in their deliveries, and are told not to deliver mail in unsafe locations.
Tan-Todd asked residents to keep sidewalks, steps and access ways clear of snow and ice. Street-side mailboxes or cluster neighborhood boxes should have a clear pathway.
