Firefighters rescue duck from icy pond
Sedgwick County Firefighters from station 33 rescued a domesticated duck named "Solo" from the middle of an icy pond near K-96 and Ridge Road this morning.
Solo does not fly.
Acting Lt. Sheldon Miller says that firefighters came up with a plan to rescue the duck. "We strapped ropes to a spineboard, sliding out and rescuing the duck from the ice and dragging it (the spineboard) back with the ropes."
We are happy to report that Solo is doing fine and is back home with its owner.
