Wichita man arrested after police involved chase
An early morning chase resulted in the arrest of a 30-year-old Wichita man.
"An officer spotted a pickup truck driver commit a traffic violation in the 800 block of South Washington and failed to stop," Wichita Police Sgt. Scott Brunow said. "It began about 1:40 Saturday morning. The chase ended without incident at Maple and Leonine.
"During the pursuit the driver fired two rounds from a 9-millimeter handgun inside the vehicle and then when stopped, he threw the gun and methamphetamine out on the ground."
The shots were fired inside the vehicle - not at officers.
The driver was booked for possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, being a felon in possession of a firearm and multiple traffic charges.
