One car rollover crash leaves a woman dead
A teenager from Atchison has died of her injuries after a rollover traffic accident.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash happened just before 6 p.m. Sunday on Highway-73 at Country Road-33 in Leavenworth County. Troopers said the driver, 18-year-old Felicity Crossland of Atchison, was eastbound and started to drift left of the centerline.
Investigators said she over-corrected to the right, and then over-corrected to the left. The 2002 Pontiac Sunfire she was driving then went off the roadway to the left, entered the north ditch, went through the fence and rolled over into a pond. Troopers said all three girls were buckled up.
Troopers said a passenger, 15-year-old Desirae Crossland, died of her injuries at St. John's Hospital. Another passenger, 18-year-old Kelsey Essig of Atchison, suffered serious injuries and was treated at Cushing Memorial Hospital. The older Crossland also in serious condition.
