Fire damages north Wichita home
Investigators are looking into the cause of a New Year's Day fire that heavily damaged a north Wichita home. The fire was reported around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of North Chautauqua.
Wichita fire lieutenant Colby Roberson said there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the house when crews arrived. The fire gutted the living room, bedroom and a hallway, while the rest of the house had smoke damage.
There were three adults living in the home who got out safely. The Red Cross was called to the scene to provide assistance. A dollar estimate was not available on the damage.
