Man dies after shooting in northeast Wichita
A 42-year-old Wichita man is dead after being shot several times in a neighborhood in the northeast part of the city Wednesday evening.
The man drove himself to the QuikTrip at 13th and Oliver just after 7 p.m.
"He told a customer that he'd been shot, and they notified the police officer that was working off-duty security at the store," said Sgt. Don Story.
Police looked over the victim's white car for clues in the QuikTrip parking lot while investigating a second crime scene. Homicide lieutenant Todd Ojile said officers had heard shots in the area of 13th and Oliver, and they found a shooting scene with several shell casings in the 1700 block of Northeast Parkway.
Ojile said police are talking to several people, but there are no leads or suspects at this time. The victim's name has not been released, but Ojile said the man had a criminal history. The man died in surgery just before midnight at Wesley Medical Center.
