Wichita area residents rally to help military family
Just after learning he was going to be a father, 22 year-old Lance Corporal Devan Krausch, died after a traffic accident a week ago today.
Police said Krausch and 21 year-old Army Specialist Marcus McClellan were in a car that left the road and struck a utility pole on 13th Street North near 135th Street West. Police said speed played a role in the crash about 2:30 Thursday morning. About 600 people attended Devan's funeral on Wednesday.
The military will cover baby Bentley once he's born and not before. Until then, Devan's fiance Andi, must foot the bill with insurance. A fund has been established for Devan at Wichita Federal Credit Union in care of his parents, Tom and Kim Krausch, 455 N. Main, Rm 410, Wichita, Kansas, 67202.
A charity hockey game has been arranged Saturday, January 5th at the Wichita Ice Center. The original time was 4:45pm, but the game was pushed back to 6 p.m. A family spokesman said all proceeds from the memorial fund and charity event will go directly to Andi and baby Bentley.
