Two Kansas State fans injured after football game
Two Kansas State Football fans were seriously injured after the pedicab they were riding in was struck from behind by a suspected drunk driver in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The men were identified by Scottsdale Police Department as Cody Clark and Michael Tysver, both 21, from Great Bend. Police said the "bike taxi" accident happened just after 3 a.m. Friday.
The men were in town for the Fiesta Bowl game played in Glendale. The crash occurred on Scottsdale Road north of McDonald Drive. The pedicab driver received minor injuries.
Police said the driver of the car, 27-year-old Joseph Spano of Phoenix, was northbound on Scottsdale Road in the median lane and struck the back of the northbound pedicab. Spano wasn't hurt.
Police said Spano was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, endangerment and aggravated assault. He's awaiting a court appearance before a judge.
At this point in the investigation, investigators have found no mechanical or safety violations on the pedicab. Police said it was also properly equipped for night driving.
