Deadline to apply for loans from April tornado outbreak approaching
Farmers in Sedgwick, Butler and Cowley counties have until Jan. 24 to apply for loans to recover losses incurred in the April 14 severe weather outbreak.
Farm loan manager Gary Nuss said those needing assistance should apply at the FSA County office, located at 2118 East 9th in Winfield, Kansas.
The loans cover physical (equipment, livestock, buidlings) losses, production (feed, seed, fertilizer losses or pay real estate obligations.
"Funds can be used for other essential operating and living expenses," Nuss said.
To qualify for the loan, the applicant should be operating a family-size farm or ranch, not be able to get credit from other means, and have suffered a qualifying physical or production loss as a result of the storms.
