Wichita City Council members spent Monday interviewing the four candidates who filed petitions for a vacant council seat. Michael O'Donnell resigned from District IV last month, and he is getting ready to take office as a new member of the Kansas Senate, representing the 25th District in Wichita.

The candidates who have filed are former council members Paul Gray and Stan Reeser, along with Joshua Blick, who ran for the District IV seat two years ago, and Goddard school board member Jeff Blubaugh.

The council agenda for Tuesday includes a vote on a temporary council member for District IV. If the council deadlocks on a choice, another vote could be held at their Jan. 15 meeting.

The winning candidate will serve until the April elections, and then voters will decide who will fill the remaining two years of O'Donnell's term.
