McConnell Air Force Base competes for prestigious award
Inspectors are heading to McConnell Air Force Base to decide who will receive the 2013 Commander in Chief Installation Excellence award. The award is given to recognize the outstanding efforts that both Airmen and civilians put into maintaining military installations.
McConnell is one of two finalists nominated for the award. McConnell's competition included more than 100 other bases throughout the entire United States Air Force.
"I want our active duty Airmen, reservists, guardsmen, civilians, spouses and family members, Golden Eagles, civic leaders, and honorary commanders to know, that you are the best at what you do, and your hard work is being recognized at the highest level, "said Col. Ricky Rupp, 22nd Air Refueling Wing Commander. "I don't think you know just how proud I am of you. Thank you for all of your hard work."
If McConnell is selected for the award, it will receive $1 million to invest into the Airmen's quality of life initiatives.
