Lawsuit to be filed over downtown parking garage
After a closed-door discussion Tuesday, the Wichita city council voted to authorize a lawsuit against the leaseholders of a downtown parking garage.
The council voted to authorize the city's legal department to file the suit against Main and Market Street LLC. City attorney Gary Rebensdorf says the firm is "seriously in default" on its lease payments and maintenance obligations for the former Macy's parking garage near Douglas and Main. The city will ask district court to terminate the lease and allow for the collection of past-due rent and taxes and repair costs.
