Triple-A predicts cheaper gas prices in 2013
Gas prices should be a little more tolerable for all this year.
Barring significant events, AAA predicts average gas prices will peak between $3.60 and $3.80 per gallon this year. The national average peaked at $3.94 per gallon in 2012.
AAA said increased domestic oil production and lower demand are the culprits behind the lower prices.
"This is welcome news for thousands of area drivers who depend on their car to travel where they need to go," said Jim Hanni, AAA Public Affairs Executive Vice President.
Gas prices are predicted to begin rising in April as the switch to summer-blend gasoline is made. Prices will flucuate through the summer months, but will likely come down when the companies switch back to winter-blend gasoline.
AAA warns gas prices are affected by unexpected events like weather, refinery issues and political situations, both home and abroad.
