Children taken into protective custody
Police believe a woman had overdosed on heroin before a friend found her unresponsive in a bathtub at a home in the southwest part of Wichita.
The exact address is not being released because of an ongoing drug investigation. Officers were called to the home because there were three little girls in the home, ages 3, 7 and 9.
"There was concern about who was watching them," said Wichita Police Lt. Doug Nolte. "They were taken into police protective custody."
The Kansas Department of Children and Families will decide how to best care for the children. The mother, 31, was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
