Children removed from southwest Wichita home
Wichita Police took two children into protective custody Wednesday evening after finding unhealthy living conditions in a southwest Wichita home.
Lieutenant Doug Nolte said officers got a tip about the home early Wednesday, and they discovered trash, bugs and other problems. No one was home, but officers kept an eye on the home throughout the day. They went back Wednesday evening to talk to a 48-year-old woman who was caring for two children at the home. An 11-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl were removed from the home.
Nolte said welfare officials and the Exploited and Missing Child Unit will be investigating. No arrests have been made.
