Police release details about McDonald's shooting, standoff
The man and woman woman accused in a violent encounter at a west Wichita McDonald's and later standoff have been booked into jail on numerous felony counts.
Sean Costa, 24, and Melissa Palacios, 27, are accused of trying to cut in line at the restaurant at Kellogg and Dugan Wednesday morning. At the time, it was reported the two had a problem with their order. When another customer said something to them, police believe, Palacios threw a tire iron at the customer and Costa fired a shotgun blast at the customer's car. No one was hurt.
Police went to a home at 2440 West Newell, near Central and Meridian after running the tag number on the vehicle Palacios was driving.
Costa and Palacios were arrested after a lengthy standoff with police officers and SWAT team members. A third person was taken in for questioning and released.
A check of the Kansas Department of Corrections website showed that both Costa and Palacios have spent time in prison.
Neither has been officially charged in Wednesday's events.
