Police working to determine if armed robberies are connected
Wichita police are investigating two armed robberies, which may be connected.
The first armed robbery happened shortty after 7 Saturday evening. The victim tells police he got a call from a man named "Keaton," who was looking to sell rims and tires.
"He ("Keaton") tells the victim to bring $600 in cash," Wichita police Sgt. Bart Brunscheen says.
When the victim and a friend arrive to the gas station in the 800 block of south Meridian, when the robber pulled a gun and takes the money. The suspect left the scene in a newer model Pontiac G-6.
The suspect is described as a 22 to 25 year old man, 6 feet tall, weighs about 160 pounds and was wearing a dark-colored shirt with tattoos on his arms.
Fifteen minutes after the first armed robbery, a man with an almost identical description robbed the Presto convenience store was robbed near Seneca and McLean. Sgt. Brunscheen says the victim took an undetermined amount of money and left the store on foot.
Brunscheen says detectives were able to retrieve still photos and video of the robber at the Presto convenience store.
No injuries were reported in either robbery.
