An 81-year-old woman is in critical condition after a traffic accident sent her car into a ditch near Park City.

The woman stopped her Ford Sedan at a stop sign at the intersection of 77th and Hydraulic around 2:50 p.m. She pulled her car out into the intersection, where it was hit by a Chevy van that was going southbound.

"It appears she was stopped - and if he didn't see the van - she pulled out in front of the van, and that's when the accident occured," said Sedgwick County Sheriff Lt. Mary Mattingly. "It spun around, went off the roadway."

The woman was a Wichita resident. The 58-year-old man and two passengers inside, also from Wichita, were not hurt.
