City council appoints interim member for southwest Wichita
Former Wichita City Council member Paul Gray is returning to the seat he once held for two terms. The city council voted Tuesday to make Gray the interim council member for District IV, representing southwest Wichita.
Gray was elected on a 4-2 vote of the council, with former council member Stan Reeser getting two votes. Goddard school board member Jeff Blubaugh was also a candidate. South Wichita resident Joshua Blick removed his name from consideration.
Gray was immediately sworn in by municipal court judge Jennifer Jones. He thanked the council and the other candidates, and he said he is looking forward to serving with the council.
Gray takes over for Michael O'Donnell, who is now a state senator for Wichita's 25th Senate District. Gray will serve until the spring elections, when voters will decide who will fill the remaining two years of O'Donnell's term.
