Jim Skelton chosen to serve as Sedgwick County Commission chair

Sedgwick County commissioner Jim Skelton has been chosen to serve as the commission chairman for the new year.
Skelton was elected by a voice vote of the commission at their regular meeting Wednesday. Commissioner Dave Unruh was elected as the chairman pro tem, who will run meetings when the chairman is absent.
Commissioner Tim Norton completed his year as the chairman by presenting the annual Chairman's Award to the Regional Economic Area Partnership. Dave Unruh, who is chair of REAP, accepted the award.
Former Wichita mayor Bob Knight talked about the formation of REAP in 1997, when he served as mayor, and he said the organization is important in helping south central Kansas communities work together.
