Man sentenced to 14 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter
A Wichita man who helped beat and choke a man to death in a fight over a dog has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Sedgwick County Judge Joseph Bribiesca handed down the sentence Wednesday for Samuel Sims, 41, who pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in December. Sims was involved in the July 2011 death of John Tolliver, 47, in the 1400 block of North Kansas.
Sims' co-defendant in the case, Nelson Glover, is due for sentencing next week.
