Police identify body found in north Wichita
Wichita police have identified the body found early Wednesday near a construction site, but they are not releasing his name at this time. The body of the 34-year-old man was found near the Heartland Preparedness Center that is being built near K-96 and Hillside.
Lieutenant Todd Ojile said it appeared the body had been dragged into a wooded area. He said there were some injuries to the body, but detectives couldn't determine the type of injuries because of the frozen state of the body. An autopsy was being conducted at the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center.
Ojile said the man was last seen at a west side business. The man's girlfriend reported him missing on Sunday. Ojile said the circumstances make this a suspicious death, but the case is not being called a homicide at this point.
