Woman says she was robbed by police officer
Wichita police detectives are checking a woman's story after she reported being robbed by a police officer.
The woman says her car was stopped at around 1:30 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of South Doreen, near Lincoln and Rock Road. She said the officer's car was a dark-colored Ford Crown Victoria with flashing blue and red lights.
The woman went on to say a man between the ages of 20 and 30 was dressed like a Wichita police officer. He allegedly asked for the woman's identification, then pointed a gun at her head and demanded her purse.
Detectives later checked GPS records with 911 dispatch and found that no police officers were in the area at the time the robbery was reported.
Anyone who may have had contact with a police imposter is asked to call 911 right away.
