Burglar chases workman with knife
A man who was installing windows on a rental house in southwest Wichita was confronted by a possible burglar.
It happened around 3:50 p.m. in the 8900 block of West Bellview. The worker heard noises inside the home and became suspicious.
A man inside identified himself as "Denton" and said he knew the renters.
"The individual doing work did not believe that this was the case, didn't think anyone should be there, and told this individual to leave," said Police Lt. Doug Nolte.
The suspect left in a 1998 Ford Explorer that was driven by another person, but the worker heard noises coming from inside again, about 20 minutes later. This time the suspect was carrying some things out of a bedroom.
"He also had a folding blade knife in his hand and threatened to cut our reporting party with that knife," Nolte said.
The victim said he was briefly chased and the suspect left again in the Ford Explorer. No one was hurt.
