Shots fired in northwest Wichita neighborhood
People in a north Wichita neighborhood called 911 early Friday to report several shots being fired during a disturbance in the street. The shots were reported around 2:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of North Jeanette.
Wichita Police Lieutenant Doug Nolte said one resident heard shots and the sounds of a disturbance, and a second person reported seeing someone get out of a vehicle after the shots were fired, then they got back in and left.
Officers found shell casings in the street, but there were no reports of injuries or damage. The car that was seen earlier returned to the neighborhood, and officers talked to the people inside. They arrested a 19-year-old man for driving under the influence, and an 18-year-old woman was arrested for outstanding warrants.
No arrests were made in connection to the shooting.
