Man stabbed after flirting with friend's girlfriend
A get-together between a couple and a 33-year-old man turned violent early Saturday.
The incident happened at a home in the 300 block of North Edwards around 2:30 a.m.
According to Wichita Police, the 20-year old man, his girfriend and their guest were drinking heavily. An argument quickly escalated into a fight when the 20-year-old man accused the guest of making sexual advances toward his girlfriend.
During the fight, the guest pulled a gun, fired several shots and hit the 20-year-old with the gun. No one was hit in the gunfire.
The young man then grabbed a broken stairway bannister and stabbed the 33-year-old man with it, then grabbed a knife and stabbed the man again.
The man with the gun was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Police Sgt. Bart Brunscheen said the 20-year-old man was interviewed by detectives and later released.
