Bomb threat used in robbery attempt at south Wichita Wal-Mart store
A man called a Wichita Wal-Mart store and said there were explosive devices in the building. He said they would go off unless an employee brought cash out to a car in the parking lot.
The robbery attempt happened around 2 Thursday afternoon at the Wal-Mart at Pawnee and Broadway. Police lieutenant Dennis Wilson said the caller claimed there were 3 devices in the store. Officers surrounded the building and began taking names of everyone who was inside, while employees searched the store. Nothing was found and there were no injuries.
Wilson said it's believed that the would-be robber left as officers got to the scene. The only description of a car was a mid-sized gray 4-door vehicle. No arrests have been made.
