A 17-year-old girl remains in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of I-235 in Wichita.

The accident happened around 8 a.m. Friday. The Kansas Highway Patrol said an SUV driven by 48-year-old David Mann was traveling northbound when it left the roadway and hit a guardrail near the MacArthur exit. The vehicle then crossed the grassy median and struck a utility pole and a pickup that was headed southbound.

Mann remains in fair condition at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis. A third person was taken to Wesley Medical Center, but was treated and released.

The roadway reopened early Friday afternoon.
