2 killed in east Wichita crash
A man, woman and a dog were killed Sunday afternoon when their minivan went out of control and crashed into a drainage canal in east Wichita. The crash was reported shortly before 3 p.m. at Central and Brookside, just east of Edgemoor.
Wichita Police Lieutenant Sam Hanley said the van was going east when it went out of control through a parking lot and into a culvert. He said the driver was a 56-year-old man, and a female passenger in her upper 40s or early 50s was ejected from the van.
Hanley said speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash. Police had traffic blocked on Central, east of Edgemoor, while the crash was under investigation.
