Search for stolen car suspect ends in northwest Sedgwick County

K-9s and a combined Sheriff's Department search came to a successful end for a car theft suspect.

It is believed to have started early this morning with a report of gun shots being heard in Harvey County. A 911 Sedgwick County Dispatcher told KFDI one person has been arrested near 109th Street North and 199th Street West, near Bentley.

The search area included a wooded area near a creek. It is believed the suspect was shot by the owner of the car with a shotgun. The unidentified suspect was treated for minor pellet wounds by EMS.

A manhunt is underway after a car theft and shooting in Harvey County.

It is believed the owner of the vehicle shot at and wounded a suspect early this morning. Details of where the incident happened are not known.
 
There may be more than one person involved in the car theft. A 911 dispatcher told KFDI it was not an officer-involved shooting. A Sheriff's Office spokeswoman did confirm their was a stolen car and a suspect.
