Man jumped while walking home from SW Wichita Quiktrip
Wichita police are working to figure out why a 22-year-old man was jumped and stabbed early Saturday morning near Pawnee and Meridian.
Wichita Police Sgt. Bart Brunscheen said the victim woke up around 3 a.m. Saturday and walked to a nearby Quiktrip to get something to eat. When he was walking home, he noticed a vehicle following him, then three men got out of the vehicle and jumped him. After the altercation, the victim managed to make it back to his house, where he went back to sleep.
Three hours later, the victim woke up and noticed lots of blood in his bed. Brunscheen said the victim's mother noticed a stab wound to the left side of his chest and there was "lung material" hanging out.
The victim was taken to Via Christi St. Joseph on East Harry and later transferred to Via Christi hospital on St. Francis, where he was taken into surgery.
The current condition of the victim is not known.
No description of the suspects, or the vehicle they were in, was given.
