Head-on crash N.E. Wichita leaves two hurt, one critical
A man and boy were hurt during a head-on crash in Northeast Wichita.
The accident happened just before 7 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Oliver. Police said it appears the drivers tried to avoid a dog that was in the street, according to witnesses.
Wichita Police Sgt. Bart Brunsheen said one of the cars crossed the center line and struck the on-coming car head-on. A man in his 20s was unconscious, while a 3-year-old boy had minor injuries.
Police said the woman driving the other car was not hurt. So far, no names have been released. Brunsheen said the Critical Accident Team was called to investigate the cause of the crash.
Yellow crime scene tape was stretched across Oliver to keep onlookers out and evidence from being disturbed at the crash site. A witness told KFDI the man was cut out of the car by firefighters.
Investigators said the boy was not riding in a child safety seat at the time of the crash. The man was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of a closed head and leg injury.
