Fire crews battle grass fires in NW Sedgwick County
Fire crews across northwest Sedgwick county were busy battling grass fires Wednesday.
One fire was near Andale High School in the 700 block of West Rush during the noon hour. Emergency traffic indicated the fire has consumed eight acres near 263rd West. It is believed a train sparked that fire. The grass fire, combined with winds out of the west, has caused smoke to drift across 61st Street.
Firefighters also battled a large grass fire that got out of control near Mt. Hope. It is estimated about 40 acres of milo burned in the blaze.
A Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor tells KFDI news there were no reports of damage or injuries in either fire.
