A man bought just another time with his story to get away with a burglary in the 600 block of S. Rutan.

A 27-year-old man saw a car he did not recognize in his driveway when he came home just before noon Monday.

"He went to the back of the house to see if anyone was there, and he noticed his back door was kicked in," said Wichita Police Lt. Doug Nolte.

The man went inside and found another man in his home.

"The suspect said he was looking for an individual named Mark," Nolte said. "The suspect then unlocked the front door and left the residence, getting into his Mazda and leaving southbound on Rutan."

It was later found that jewelry was taken from the house.

The suspect is a black man in his 20s, about 6-foot tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing and a dark hoodie. His car is described as a silver or tan Mazda Tribute.
