Sedgwick County has delayed the opening of advance voting locations for next week's primary election, because of the winter storm and slick driving conditions.

Election commissioner Tabitha Lehman says there's a concern for the safety of election workers and voters in getting to the sites.   The locations will be closed Thursday, and they will reopen at noon on Friday, February 22nd.   They will also be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The Sedgwick County election office in the historic courthouse building will be open Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and it will be open Monday from 8 a.m. to noon.

The February 26th primary election is for city council and school board seats.  Wichita, Park City and Valley Center are among 5 jurisdictions that will have primary elections.   Only about one third of the county's registered voters will have a primary election on Tuesday.   Lehman said only about 91,000 voters will be eligible to vote in the primary, out of 271,000 registered voters.
