City of Wichita anticipates normal operations Friday
The city of Wichita will keep pushing its 50 snow plows and and 50 city crews through the Friday morning commute.
Public Works and Utilities officials said the crews will work longer, if needed. Private contractors have been added to the fleet.
City officials said they expect to resume normal operations Friday as it unpacks from a winter storm. The National Weather Service said at least 12-1/2 inches of snow fell on Wichita since Wednesday - the fifth largest snowfall in city history.
The Wichita Public Library and parks and recreation facilities are anticipated to run normal business hours. The Wichita Transit Service is operating, but with some detours and delays along the way.
Officials at Mid-Continent Airport said airlines have called off most flights. However, they advise each airline makes its own decisions on flights, so passengers are encouraged to check with their airline provider.
