Salvation Army Mission of Hope has one million reasons to smile
Donations to the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign improved over the previous year.
A spokesman said total Wichita Red Kettle donations for 2012 made a $100,000 improvement. Totals reached over $1.7 million. The Salvation Army Mission of Hope program provided toys for over 9,000 children, assisted over 3,000 families and 16,000 people were served.
“Once again, Wichitans stepped up and showed their support for community members in need,” said Glen Caddy, Major and Wichita City Commander with The Salvation Army. “We’d like to thank all who donated to The Salvation Army this past holiday season. Your donations truly make a difference.”
The red kettle campaign is conducted each year as part of The Salvation Army’s Mission of Hope holiday programs. In 2012, the Army conducted its 122nd red kettle campaign, which ran from Nov. 22 through Christmas Eve.
