Sedgwick County businesses are getting the opportunity to be recognized for their commitment to supporting and rewarding healthy lifestyles for employees.

The Health and Wellness Coalition of Wichita is taking applications for its 2013 Working Well Award.

The organization will dole out three awards to Sedgwick County employers - a Small Employer Award for businesses of 100 or less employees, the Medium Employer Award (101-500) and the Large Employer Award (more than 500 employees).

"The Working Well Award is a local, grassroots award that does not require the purchase of products or advertising," said Debbie Williams, Health and Wellness Coalition of Wichita director. "This award is selected by professionals that have numerous years of experience in work site wellness."

A committee will judge applications on seven standards: capture CEO support, create a cohesive wellness team, collect data to drive health efforts, craft an operating plan, choose appropriate interventions, create a supportive environment and carefully evaluate outcomes.

Applications, found here, will be accepted through April 30. Awards will be presented Aug. 20.
