Amur tiger cub dies at Sedgwick County Zoo
It is a bittersweet time at the Sedgwick County Zoo.
Last month, the first Amur tiger cub was born at Sedgwick County Zoo by artificial insemination, but died 36 hours after birth. A zoo spokesman said its most likely due in part to an inexperienced mother. Approximately 40 percent of single cubs do not survive to 30 days.
Deputy Director Ryan Gulker said the plan is to mate adult tigers, Talali and Ivan, for a natural birth this spring.
