Check shots call leads police to ransacked, damaged home
A report of gun shots led Wichita police to find a south Wichita home ransacked and damaged.
It started while police were checking the call of shots fired in the 4400 block of east Pawnee around 2 a.m. Friday. Wichita Police Sgt. Bruce Watts said officers caught two men, but two more fled the area.
While conducting interviews, officers learned the other two men may be hiding at a home in the 2300 block of south Crestway. Two additional arrests were made at a house in the area.
"The four individuals admitted they broke into that residence, took the homeowner's firearms and went out and started shooting the guns in the street," Watts said.
Additional investigations revealed the four men had been living inside the home for up to five days, while the elderly owners of the home were away.
"They did a lot of grafitti in the house, a lot of holes in the walls, plugged up the sewer - just a huge mess," Watts said.
The four were arrested and booked on burglary, theft and multiple weapons charges.
