Funding approved for projects at 2 Wichita swimming pools
The Wichita City Council approved funding for improvement projects at two municipal swimming pools.
Parks and Recreation Director Doug Kupper said changes have to be made at all of the city's pools to comply with federal requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The council approved $80,000 in capital improvement funds, which will be combined with other funding in the city budget to make improvements to the Harvest and College Hill pools.
Kupper told the council that his staff is taking a close look at the nine pools in the city with regard to ADA issues and other needs, and a master plan is being developed for the future of the city's municipal pools. That plan will be presented to the council in the near future.
