Ottawa woman sentenced for running drug ring
A 61 year-old woman from Ottawa, Kan. has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
Connie Edwards pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute prescription drugs. In her plea, she said she and others had been involved in selling the drugs since 2007.
A man who bought drugs from the woman's group died in May 2009. He had been sold what he believed was meth, but was actually a combination of crushed up medications.
Along with Edwards, nine others have been named in connection with the drug ring and are awaiting sentencing.
